1. About AdvanceReads

AdvanceReads is a platform operated by Charles Holm, residing in Spain, that connects authors with readers who want early access to new books. Through AdvanceReads, authors offer advance reader copies (ARCs) of upcoming titles to interested readers before the official publication date.

2. Advance Reader Copies

When you sign up to receive an ARC through AdvanceReads, you agree to the following:

What you receive: A free, pre-publication copy of a book in digital format (EPUB or MOBI). The ARC may contain minor errors or differences from the final published edition.

What we ask: We ask that you read the book and leave an honest review on Amazon after the book's publication date. Your review should reflect your genuine opinion. We do not expect, require, or request positive reviews.

No obligation: While we hope you'll review the book, your receipt of the ARC is not conditioned on leaving a review. However, readers who consistently accept ARCs without reviewing may not be selected for future ARC opportunities. This is a practical selection criterion, not a penalty.

No compensation: No compensation, payment, discount, gift, or future benefit of any kind is offered in exchange for a review. The ARC itself is the only thing you receive, and it is provided free of charge with no strings attached.

3. Review Disclosure (FTC Requirement)

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires that reviewers who received a free product disclose that fact in their review. If you received an ARC through AdvanceReads, we ask that you include a disclosure near the beginning of your review, such as:

"I received a free advance copy of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily."

4. Email Communications

When you sign up through AdvanceReads, you may join one or both of the following email lists:

Author News: Occasional emails about new series, book launches, and author updates. Typically monthly or less.

ARC Readers: Notifications when new advance reader copies are available. Sent only when a new ARC opportunity opens.

You can unsubscribe from either list at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email. Unsubscribe requests are honored promptly.

Email communications are sent via Kit (formerly ConvertKit). See our Privacy Policy for details on how your information is handled.

5. Intellectual Property

All books, content, and materials distributed through AdvanceReads are protected by copyright. Advance reader copies are provided for your personal reading and review purposes only.

You may not redistribute, share, upload, or resell any ARC received through AdvanceReads. Unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material may result in removal from the ARC program and may be subject to legal action.

6. Use of the Website

You agree to use AdvanceReads for its intended purpose — discovering books and participating in the advance reader program. You may not use the site for any unlawful purpose, attempt to interfere with the site's operation, or misrepresent your identity when signing up.

7. Limitation of Liability

AdvanceReads is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the site will be available at all times or free from errors.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of AdvanceReads shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or any materials received through it.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account. Continued use of AdvanceReads after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection provisions that may apply in your country of residence.
